Isaac Chok – Piano Teacher in Glen Waverley

Stemming from his experience as a performer, Isaac brings a high quality of teaching to his over 60 students between his private practice and involvement in school programs, ranging from beginners to Grade 8 and beyond. 

Isaac’s students have gone to win awards in eisteddfods and his composition students have entered competitions such as the Australian Songwriting Competition. Isaac’s students also use their abilities to apply for music scholarships for exceptional talent.

In addition to examination preparation, Isaac also runs student concerts twice a year and one of these concerts are held at an external venue.

Isaac also runs the instrumental program at Beaconhills College Berwick, running weekly private and ensemble classes as well as providing accompaniment.

Performer’s Biography

Isaac takes pride in his ability as a performer and has been involved in performances, masterclasses and competitions locally and overseas, including the UCSI International Piano Competition in Kuala Lumpur, where he was a semi-finalist. Domestically, in tandem with the successful completion of his Bachelor of Music at Monash University, he has been a finalist for the Australian Music Prize twice and a finalist for the Spivakovsky Piano Prize representing the top level of his cohort. He has also been invited to the Melbourne Recital Centre for a masterclass with acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis.

Isaac’s teachers have included Tamara Smolyar, Mikhail Solovei and Louisa Breen.

A tested and proven curriculum that is both challenging and rewarding allows the student to achieve what they’re looking to achieve.



Student concerts run twice a year, competitions and audition opportunities are all encouraged and worked towards.



AMEB examinations allow the student to assess what they have achieved through an objective set of parameters.



Weekly feedback is given either digitally or through a student notebook, and as a parent, you’re always free to ask Isaac.
